It is considered a great honor to be asked to write a eulogy and while the whole purpose of an eulogy is to speak from the heart while commemorating the person who has passed away, there are a few things to remember to help you along with writing an eulogy. Death is never easy, there is nothing to cushion its blow or minimize the pain of it.
A eulogy is usually delivered as a speech at a funeral service. For all human beings grief is the most difficult to face and the loss of someone dear to us is very hard to cope. If giving the eulogy is overwhelming to you, remember that while it may seem daunting, there are tips that can help you manage your anxiety and help you provide a service to both the living in their moment of loss and to the one you have lost.
I was asked by a couple of family members if I had given any thought to having someone by my side during the reading of my funeral poems for mom, to be quite honest, I didn't have a clue why I would need anyone there. If you are a family member you might want to talk about his childhood. Think about your favorite memories of the people you love chances are many of those memories are based on funny events.
Don't worry if it runs just a bit longer, take a deep breath and try to relax. Make sure to jot down notes as you think of them before writing the full eulogy.
