poem to read at a funeral

A eulogy poem is a special form of prose written to offer comfort to the bereaved. A statement, also known as a eulogy or a religious tribute to a deceased person, is not easy for most people to write or think of.

General poems can be read during the eulogy by the person performing the funeral. It need not only be a summation of the public facts, but a glimpse of the uniqueness, when combined with those facts, created a personality. An obituary can be as basic as containing only public facts about a person's life like their birth, family tree, their death.

Usually it is a family member or close friend who is asked to deliver it. Many families today do not participate in an organized religion or church. The tapestry of their human life is finished and hanging in the living room of God's house.

While overwhelming, it does not need to be confusing. Funeral services are meant to celebrate the lives of lost love ones.
